Ethel M. Stokes
      Ethel McDowell Smith Stokes, 91,
of 119 Massanutten Manor Circle,
Strasburg, died Friday, March 30,
2001, in Shenandoah Memorial Hospital,
Woodstock.
      Mrs. Stokes was born Jan. 18, 1910,
in Lexington, the daughter of Graham
McDowell and Melinda Entsminger Smith.
She was a homemaker and a member of the
Church of Latter Day Saints.
      She was married to Walter Lee Stokes.
      Surviving are six sons, Donald D.
Stokes of Winchester, Charles W. Stokes,
Walter E. Gene Stokes, Kenneth E. Stokes,
and Ray M. Stokes, all of Strasburg, and
Roy L. Stokes of Stephens City; 10 grand-
children; 17 great-grandchildren; two step
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-
grandchildren.
      A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Stover
Funeral Home, Strasburg, with the Rev. James
Baseler officiating. Burial will be in
Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg.
      Pallbearers will be Buddy Smith, Bill
Stokes Jr., Eddie Stokes, Jeff Stokes, Greg
Wakeman, and Todd Six.
      The family will receive friends from 7 to
9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Strasburg 22657.
