Housekeeper keeper in the Washington area for more than 20 years, died July 23 at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park. She had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Geh- rig's disease. Mrs. Furr was born in Winches- ter, Va., and settled in the Washing- ton area by the late 1950s. After retiring in the early 1980s, she moved into Holly Hall apart- ments in Silver Spring and was ac- tive in its senior citizens' programs. Her marriage to Turner Furr ended in divorce. Three children died, Donald Furr in 1969, and Nancy Furr in 2005 and Mary Hungerford in 2006. Survivors include five children, Shirley Wetzel of Frederick, James T. Furr of Pedricktown, N.J., David Furr of Bunker Hill, W.Va., Deb- orah McCall of Saltville, Va., and John Furr of Dickson, Tenn.; four brothers; three sisters; 19 grand- children; and 14 great-grandchil- dren. --Adam Bernstein |

Gaithersburg, died Friday, Dec. 24,at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville. Born Jan. 7, 1929, in Virginia, he was a son of the late Lawrence Richard and Mary Bellar Furr. Mr. Furr was a retired plumber. He is survived by seven children, Shirley Wetzel of Dickerson, David Furr, John Furr and Mary Frances Furr, all of West Virginia, Debbie Furr of Saltsville, Va., James Furr of New Jersey, and Nancy Furr of Silver Spring; one sister, Susana Butt of Rockville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Rd., Damascus. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. |
