MARTINSBURG -- A Berkeley County
woman died in a Saturday evening wreck on
W.Va. 9 east of Charles Town.
Angela M. Long, 27, of Falling Waters,
was pronounced dead at the scene of the
6:30 p.m. crash that happened on the short
stretch of W. Va. 9 between Bloomery Road
and the Shenandoah River bridge. Three
other people who were in her car were hos-
pitalized.
According to police, John Stone, 24, was
driving Long's 1991 Toyota Celica west-
bound on W. Va. 9 when the car went out of
control, swerved across the centerline and
was struck broadside on the passenger's
side by a 1994 Ford Ranger pickup.
The collision was so powerful that Long's
body and passenger Herbert Buffaloboy
were trapped in the Celica's wreckage and
had to be freed by rescue crews, police said.
Buffaloboy, whose age is unknown and

address has only been identified as Jeffer-
son County, was airlifted by Maryland State
Police helicopter to Washington County,
Md., Hospital where he was listed in serious
condition Sunday afternoon.
Stone, whose last known address was
Tampa, Fl., was airlifted to INOVA Hospi-
tal in Fairfax, Va., where he was in critial
condition Sunday afternoon.
The Celica's other passenger, Michael
Howell, 18, of Ranson, was hospitalized at
Jefferson Memorial Hospital as of Sunday
afternoon.
No further information was available on
his condition.
The driver of the pickup, Dwight Jackson
of Summit Point, was hospitalized for a
brief time at Jefferson Memorial before be-
ing released.
State police are still investigating why
Stone lost control of the car.
Because damage to the car was extensive
and rescue crews reached the scene and be-
gan work quickly, police were not able to
determine whether the Celica's passengers
were wearing seatbelts, a police spokesman
said.
