Employee Dies

John William Brown, 70, retired
employee of the Norfolk and West-
ern Railroad in Berryville died at
his home in that place Sunday
evening at 7 o'clock.

He was a native of Shenandoah
county having been born there
January 22, 1876 and was a son
of the late John William Brown
and Elizabeth Muma Brown, of
that county.

The deceased was employed by
the Norfolk and Western for a
number of years as watchman at
the Berryville railroad crossing.
He was retired from active duty
about a year ago. He was a mem-
ber of Modern Woodmen, Camp
No. 11469, Berryville.

He is survived by his widow,
Mrs. Rosa Bishop Brown, of Berry-
ville, and a number of children.

Funeral services will be conduct-
ed from the John H. Enders Fun-
eral Home in Berryville tomorrow
afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev.
R. Carrington Paulette, pastor of
the Berryville Baptist Church. In-
terment will be in Green Hill Cem-
etery there.

Dies In Berryville

Mrs. Rosie Myrtle Bishop Brown,
64, widow of John W. Brown, Sr.
died Saturday morning at 9:15
o'clock at her home in Berryville
following a heart attack. She had
been an invalid for many years.

Born March 1, 1883 in Front Roy-
al she was a daughter of the late
William Bishop and Frances Mc
Hayley Bishop, both natives of
Warren County.

Seven children survive: John
W. Brown, Jr., Joseph Lee Brown,
Mrs. Nellie Locke, Mrs. Viola Mil-
ler, and Mrs. Dorothy Heflin, all
of Berryville; Mrs. Nettie Howell,
of Hagerstown, and Mrs. Myrtle
Ellis, of Luray, and 15 grand-
children.

Funeral services will be held
this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the
John H. Enders Funeral Home
with the Rev. R. Carrington Paul-
ette, pastor of the Berryville
Baptist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Green Hill
Cemetery.
